I can't believe the Blue Jays are even being mentioned. Though the crazy talk does seem to be enticing FA's to want to play with Vlady Jr. & Bichette. Why would Harper or Machado's agent ever allow them to sign away long term marketing potential for Toronto. what MLB players make a coin in marketing nowadays anyway? MLB commiss came out and blasted Trout for not getting his face out there enough - wellhis mug is all over here in Philly - I guess not anywhere else. who's to blame for MLB players not being marketed, popular, picked up in commericials, name recognition amongst the general public like the NFL and NBA? is it MLB, the player, the times we live in (where nobody cares about baseball), TV (who care about revenue) or a combination of all? I don't know, but the NBA and NFL know how to market their players. Has to be some way to get these secrets. Remember Robert Griffin III? He was marketed to death before he was drafted. I recall three or four major TV ad campaigns. My wife recoginzed him, she asked "Who's the RGIII and is that his real name or an acronym?" My wife, who never watched a CFB game that year. A player who had played as many minutes as I have in the NFL was a household name. Granted, baseball seems to have superstars who are as exciting as bowl of corn flakes. Trout, Aaron Judge seems to be dull. But ad agencies can make anyone seem relevant.
