In the 1970s there were the gritty NYC movies; Martin Scorsese, Sidney Lumet, Friedkin, superfly, the warriors et.al., whereas by the late 1980s, they developed a much slicker look - fatal attraction, wall street, Ridley Scott's someone to watch over me, sea of love. In their day they looked terrific on the big screen.
