Stand alone is definitely what DC’s better at. They should focus on making a bunch of high quality trilogies for these characters then revisiting the Justice League down the road. After saying that my brain just went into an Elseworld and I imagined a place where DC made trilogies of TDK, MOS, WW, and Aquaman, completely without care of a shared universe... then made Justice League. And they all completely stand alone of each other while still epically combining well together. That’s the dream shared universe. Nolan Batman isn't comic booky enough to cross over with other superheroes, which was WB's issue back in the day. So they tried to make a Justice League movie with George Miller directing which only fell through because of a Hollywood strike or something. If it had been released, Green Lantern and the DCEU would probably have never happened... Yeah I remember the George Miller JL and was super disappointed it didn't come to be. As for Nolan's films not being comic booky enough, I totally agree. Which is why it would've been cool if they had made a bunch of stand alone trilogies and later made Justice League with TDK and the other trilogies being canon. They could've just replaced Bale as Batman, and had the events of the original trilogy still be part of their universe. That way if someone didn't like the shared universe concept they could just watch whichever trilogy standalone. Like with MCU you can't really watch any of the trilogies standalone. But the fans of Nolan's trilogy would've probably still hated it lol.
