Your post made me think of my 1983 TOPPS Complete Baseball Set I own.
Collecting Dust in storage - I always thought it would turn into like a $100,000 investment 
As a kid - you'd look at these guys like they were GODs and larger than life.
83 Topps. Killer set. My uncle got me into collecting cards during the summer of 85. He gave me a bunch of 85 Topps commons to get me started. I remember sitting down and putting those cards into a binder. It does suck how those 80s cards took a nosedive. I guess the plus in it all is that I'm able to get all the cards I wanted back then but could never afford.
