Jesse James once helped out a widow who was very down on her luck.
she was just days away from losing her house and one night out of chance he knocks on her door and asks for food.
she makes him whatever she could find in the house and it was meager. he asks why and she tells him.
he listens to her story and immediately brings out the money [over a grand] that she would need to pay her bill collector who was arriving the next morning.
he gives her one word of advice... GET A RECEIPT.
he leaves and tomorrow morning the bill collector arrives. she gives him the money and demands a receipt and he provides her with it.
he leaves and is promptly held up by.....
WAIT FOR IT...

she had a receipt so that proved that she paid her bill!
