They changed Wolverine into a hero-romantic lead type of character which worked--and without that, the films would have suffered since it gave the series a traditional hero figure.
They can do something different with it on tv, but again we have one of the negatives of the corporate approach--wall to wall exposure makes the thing less exciting.
They "used up their shuttle fuel to signal the Enterprise" by doing so many movies with A budgets, so now, anything they do will not be able to wow so much since they either repeat what comes before or will focus on talking heads more than anything else.
Like a bored Bruce Wayne liked to say in the first Batman appearance, "ho-hum."
I got in two specific genre references in one post, my work here is done.
