England in West Indies: How concerned should we be by England's form?www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/47111247Mark Butcher was on the radio today and he was utterly scathing - which is unusual - he mused that collapses happen and bad days etc etc, but he charges that England showed a lack of heart (something he definitely couldn't be accused of himself). What's more damning is that I think he is right! While Baylis says the mind set is scrambled between red and white ball cricket!!! FFS. Well, I sort of agree with Butcher. It's very unlikely that England would bat so badly in all the 4 innings of the 2 matches played considering WI's bowling is good but not great. Some of those dismissals were baffling. Buttler was walking down the crease to a fast bowler on a lively wicket!
But while it's a big worry for England to get their opening batsmen problem sorted out in tests as soon as they can, I would still say none of their technical problems in batting would be a concern for 2019 WC. They play on batting surfaces at home. And I do agree that England's mindset may be of ODI cricket especially given the fact that they badly want to win that elusive world champions title.
I have absolutely no concerns about England's white ball cricket, England should rightly be the team to beat. Especially for WC at home!
