But I also sort of enjoy Freddy vs Jason. It's dumb, but I think it's fun. Yes. My mistake. New Nightmare is actually a legitimate movie, and I was thinking of Freddy's Dead.

I guess it slipped my mind because I don't think of it as a sequel, since it stands outside of the series, but you're right. It does count as part of that franchise, and it's clearly better than Freddy vs Jason.
