BP wasn't even the best superhero movie of the year. And I'm not saying that Infinity War should've gotten one but if The Dark Knight or Logan didn't get nominated, BP surely shouldn't receive one either.

TDK paved the way. Its snub is why they increased the Oscar slot. Had there been 5+ nominees in 2008, it would have been nominated. As for Logan, 2017 was a more competitive year. 2018 is a bit of a sh*tshow. Two of the other nominees didn't even get good reviews. Logan did get a screenplay nod, which to me is even more impressive than Picture.
