Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was selected by the Expos in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB Draft. Who was selected No. 1 overall that year? I looked it up, would never have guessed, but there are several pretty impressive names in that year’s first round. Geoff Jenkins was in that 1st round class, and every time I see his name, my mind instantly reverts to that AWFUL injury he sustained while lunging into third base during his tenure with the Brewers. As someone who has a mostly metal ankle, that one gets to me, although miraculously, he "only" dislocated his ankle and sustained ligament damage. No broken bones. Like the "hobbling" scene in Misery. Ugh. Art imitating (my) life. Sorta. |
