I don’t understand why pitchers can’t learn to hit. They’re athletes, they probably hit at some point in their lives. All of a sudden they hit like they’re Urkel. Every player should be like Ohtani. I'm fine with the guys who are just mediocre at it. Like Jacob deGrom is a .186 hitter for his career but at least he has an idea of what he's doing out there and can put the ball in play. Ever see Al Leiter try to swing a bat? Or Jon Lester? It may as well be you or me up there. Even if you're in the AL for much of your career and then move over to the NL, you still batted throughout college, the minors, or wherever else you came from, it's not like it's a completely foreign idea for you.
