I am boycotting the West Indies V England Test Match on account that they dropped Jennings for being crap against pace, then brought him back to face a four man pace attack... You couldn't make it up. This after Root in pre match press conferences said that they have got selections wrong this tour... Incidently, Root looks shot, like Botham back in the early 80s when the captaincy hung around his neck like a heavy duty anchor. Cook out of retirement for The Ashes... I guess the problem is that they do not have any top order batsman who is meaningfully contributing and so they are rotating between the limited options that they have got.
At this point of time I will indeed like to welcome back Sir Alastair for one more year. But I feel there is very little chance of that happening. Could have easily happened if he was a Pakistani but don't think many English players have a history of doing that sort of thing. And it does seem that captaincy is putting a burden on Root, who can't match his previous non-captanicy level in batting. I would love if he himself resigns from his captaincy role.
England back in the contest BTW. WI are 4 down for 71.
