I think for the most part his reputation is deserved but his films do remind me of the direct to video stuff that was so prevalent back in the 1980's. Bad, but watchable. House of the Dead was one of the few of his films that I saw theatrically, but it was actually passable in my opinion in the zombie horror genre.
