Well at least that part made sense, of a muddled movie that I didn't like.

It was the first sensational murder case after World War II, and (I appreciate this sounds a weird and insensitive thing to say) was devoured by the public as a "back to normal" news story after all the war stories.

I think there have been three attempts to tell the story of this still unsolved murder mystery, none of them very good, and I think I read yet another is mooted. Better luck this time!
