And yet you got political anyway...
I'll reply to you, but it's just coincidental
Basically you people are saying that Brie Larson has any right to speak her mind (which she has), but anybody else who dares to object to her politics or doesen't share her views is a troll at best or a Trump supporter at worst, because... orange man bad. Way to go. Congrats.
This is socialist hive-mind thinking. Last time that I checked people do have the right to disagree with other people's ideas. I know that some of you can't handle the criticism toward your beloved MCU, but that's life for you isn'it?
I strongly dislike certain users on these boads that constantly spew hate and write the same things over and over and over in a loop, but you guys fanatically deaf to any criticism directed at the MCU, Disney or the actors are just as bad. If not a little worse.
Brie Larson did say a lot of stupid things. Granted, some of them have been taken out of their context, but they were stupid nonetheless. She's also a bad actress (I did express my doubts about her in the past way before any of this nonsense started, so I'm teflon) and based on her past performances in Kong and Free Fire, I happily assume that she was the wrong choice to play a superhero. Am I a troll? In your mind probably yes because I don't bow to the narrative that wahmen are beyond any kind of reproach, girl power and feminism/good men/bad.
Rotten Tomatoes just asked a question: are you interested in seeing Captain Marvel? Yes because or no because. That's it. Are you people so thin skinned that you need everybody else in the world to share your passions? Are you? It hink so, because as soon as anybody goes against your dogma you start to lose you shit and cry troll here, troll there, orange man bad etc.
Lastly, you're against testosterone as well? Congrats, you've been succesfully neutered. Testosterone is what makes you as a male healthy both mentally and physically. Stop hating yourself you are being manipulated. And when feminists hate men, want to get rid of them and all they do is to create an even greater divide between the TWO genders, yes being anti feminist is the healthy thing to do.
I agree with everything you said up until this point.
I respectfully disagree that an "anti-feminist" stance is "healthy" but rather a misunderstanding of what feminism means, which is simply equality between the sexes. I think we can all agree that equality where possible should be the goal; there's some things men or women are biologically predisposed to doing at different levels, of course.
Where people seem to go wrong, and this includes Larson, is in the application/pursuit of these principles in an exclusionary way. There's no reason that, to bring in some new and diverse voices about movies, half the ("white") guys who have worked hard to establish careers as paid reviewers should be unceremoniously forced into early retirement. The snag here is the blatant hypocrisy of someone who's simply not very intellectually sophisticated but is prolly well-meaning about tryna use her "platform" for what she perceives is a good and necessary cause.
But here's the problem: she is an extremely mediocre "talent" taken seriously by almost nobody anywhere punching way above her intellectual weight in way that's flat-out fucking embarrassing, anti-feminist, fucking stupid, and hurting the cause(s) she claims to support. Saying she "doesn't need to hear" someone's opinion about her shitty failed popcorn flick, A Wrinkle in Time, because of their gender, race, or age? Look, all kidding -- all "Colden"-ing -- aside, I'm a fucking Bernie Sanders supporter and flaming liberal, not some incel MRA troll douchebag, and let me tell you: that shit is racist and ageist and sexist. I don't care what group, age, or race she's disqualifying solely on those grounds. And it's not a matter of context, as I've read the entire transcript. Reducing "feminism," a serious issue if there ever were one, to some horseshit clickbait flashpoint to fight about with respect to MCU movies totally undermines her cause, and the fact that she so obliviously refers to her shitty acting credits as her "work" betrays a ridiculous sense of self-importance totally unwarranted here: she's a smug, crappy Hollywood actress acting in blockbuster McFilms! It's not like she's some Artiste with the crushing burden of an intellectual vision; it's not like she actually created anything herself or has any original ideas, or that she can even articulate well and inoffensively the basic tenets of feminism. She's essentially the equivalent of a corporate spokesperson, no more qualified to talk about gender equality than the nice person handing me a little piece of sausage on a stick at Sam's Club in hopes that I'll buy some -- and probably less so.
So I say all that to say: don't shit on feminism as a basic concept just because nobody bothered to sit Brie Larson down and tell her what it actually means.
ETA: So "when" feminism means excluding people and "hating men"? That's not feminism. That's... something else.
