As a Victorian... I have to say I've spent precious little time in NSW, except when I was passing through it on my way to somewhere nicer, like Victoria or Queensland. I've been to Sydney twice - and both times I woke up in the back seat of a car in the middle of the morning and found I was already there. And NSW isn't really that large, because it sits in the middle of the pack. It's fifth in total area, after WA, Queensland, NT and SA. However, although I've lived in several states, I've spent the vast majority of my life in SA. Great. So you are a Victorian who lives in SA? That's cool. I mistakenly though that you live in interiors of NSW. Victoria is the sports capital of Australia and Melbourne is probably the best sporting city in the world itself. I ensured during my 4 years stay in Melbourne that I never miss a good game in MCG.
Although, even an average sized state in Australia would probably be a few times larges than UK. (Just checked on Wiki - NSW is 4 times larger than UK and SA might be even more). WA is the monster state. There's nothing but daylight between it and second place. It dwarfs the rest of them. And of the state capitals I've been to, I think Adelaide is easily the best. It's the only one I've lived in and it's the only one I'd consider living in again.
