My order of preference of those listed in the topic (assuming we are talking pro level as I don't really care for college stuff in general)... 1)Basketball (but this is really the only sport I follow a good portion of the league etc so it's clearly my #1 choice. NOTE: the only thing 'King James' is the king of is ego's. whoever plays him I go for the other team by default. I tend to refer to him as 'King Ego'.) 2)Baseball (largely just my state team (Tigers)) 3)Football (but... I only watch the Super Bowl pretty much) 4)Soccer (I might catch a little of it once in a while) 5)Hockey (this is pretty dull overall) but at the end of the day... NBA basketball is easily my #1 (I have been watching this since about 1991-1992 as I can remember watching those Dream Team games back in 1992 which I would have been 12 going on 13 years old at the time. Michael Jordan is the best ). but outside of that I might catch some baseball/football/tennis(occasionally) and that's about it. but out of those five listed above you could basically say I only watch the first 2-3 as the last two are slim to nothing pretty much.
but with all of that said... most sports can be good when it's competitive as no one likes to see a blow out etc.
To me racing events would be far more fun actually doing than watching as watching does not translate nearly as well.
