How is it cementing children's sexual orientation? I'm not talking about over-sexualizing pre-teens. Just as straight kids are portrayed as having crushes and sometimes dating the opposite gender, the same would apply to gay and lesbian kids. I think kids should just be allowed to be kids. Devoting time and energy to emphasising the different sexual orientations of people who are far too young to be sexually active seems pointless to me. A form of tokenism. I'm not talking about being sexually active at all. Part of allowing kids to be kids is kids expressing interest in one another. For me, it began when I developed a crush on this girl in my kindergarten class. I developed several other crushes throughout elementary school before I left the 5th grade at the age of 11. It was a fairly common thing for certain boys and girls to be popular, in part, because a lot of kids found them attractive. Had nothing to do with sex. Were you ever interested in anyone back when you were in elementary school?
