I didn't see it either. I truly believe my case is pretty much the most common one. The first Robocop was outstanding and fresh, and quotable.
But then the second one was hum drum Hollywood all the way, something most people don't sit and watch, but kind of yawn through while they do housework. It isn't even entertainment for the elliptical or exercise bike. It's just the same Hollywood negativity, written by a Hollywood machine.
After that, who would want to watch a third one?
EDIT:
After reading Movieman's comment, it struck me that it's been a long time, and I may be confused, so I looked back, and find that I do believe I made a mistake.
As Movie Man said, number 2 wasn't the "bad one". I was thinking of number 3, as might be obvious to those who have seen it, from my description. It's the one where even the "old man" in charge of the corporation turned out to be just another "Dick Jones", and not that I have a problem with that, just that it was trite and Hollywood. Indeed, most corporate heads are evil. It's just that the first corporate head was a bit more lay back, and that one should have stayed into the series.
It is Robocop 3 that is the definitive dull "formula film". Sorry about that.
