I assume that it was because idiots were attacking 'Star Wars: Episode 9'. When a film that was 10 months away from its release got attacked in a similar fashion, RottenTomatoes probably thought they couldn't let such things to continue. of course they are owned by fandango , low scores means less tickets sold. they had to fix it Do you not realize this kind of attack happened 4 times? That's not a good look for any websites.
