so basically... comment A says a 6/10 is Thumbs Down where as comment B says a 6/10 is a Thumbs Up.
so which is it for you? ; like without the details but in a basic sense of 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9/10, where is your cut off point between Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down?
even if you want to go down the route of say a 6.5/10 is your minimum for a thumbs up... when you score it on IMDb where does that land? (a 6/10 or a 7/10?) ; this will tell me all i need to know about your general rating system in a basic sense. because if it was a 7 you might as well say 6.5-7/10(weak 7) or if it's a 6 you might as well say 6-6.5/10(strong six).
p.s. comment B is inline with myself where as comment A is not.
i stumble into movies from time to time that can get noticeably damaged from a fair portion of a movie like say the first 20-30min of a movie is fairly dull but then picks up or say a movie is fairly stable in my interest for basically all of the movie but takes a fairly decent hit in the last 30-45min... in cases like those, it just depends on how much my all around enjoyment of it was in whether ill re-watch it or not and i score accordingly as like i mentioned before anything ill re-watch cannot score below a 6/10 and anything i won't re-watch cannot score above a 5/10 in a basic sense.
that comment above was directed at the bold text. but the comment here is about your re-watch about 5 years ago and now rate it a 6.5/10... so i assume you like it and it's re-watch worthy for you now?

I understand. but ill just say this...
if i get a feeling that a movie i did not care for in the past might improve to a Thumbs Up on a re-watch ill usually give it a shot to see if it returns to a positive score. hence, worth re-watching from time to time. but it's somewhat rare ill re-watch a movie i score a 5/10 (or less) but it has happened for me (and once in a while paid off).
but i guess it just depends on how bad it was initially for you as say you thought it was below average from your memory of it ages ago and even if it improved a bit, but still only got a 5/10, then in the end it was probably not worth your time to re-watch. but if it's like a 5/10 and you think it might improve, then personally i would re-watch it as it could return to a positive opinion of the movie when you get a feeling a movie might improve for you on a re-watch that you currently give a Thumbs Down.
p.s. i think what carries that movie for it is the general feel/tone of it along with the solid chemistry between Brosnan/Russo. basically in terms of movie with a solid romance angle that's pretty much as good as it gets in my book. a pretty unique movie if you ask me (the 1968 movie can't touch the 1999 remake). the user sariz (i think that's her name on these forums) is also a big fan of this movie like i am. in fact, i think she praises it even more than i do (because i think it's a bit higher up her all time favorites type of list than it is for me) and it's within my Top 29 movies.

6/10's (more specifically 6.5/10s) are movies that have potential, originality and much good in them but just fall short for me or take a huge wrong turn somewhere along the way. For example, I actually think the first half of The Ninth Gate is very good but at some point in the second half it just becomes very silly and doesn't work for me. What started as a great mystery horror movie just kind of phones in the last 25 minutes or so. The film is well made overall and Johnny Depp is very good in it though. I fist saw it at the cinema when I was 16 and found it very mediocre (5.5/10) but it faired much better on rewatch about 5 years ago and now I rate it 6.5/10.

The Thomas Crowne Affair I also saw at the cinema in 1998 and I just found it very dull, but I was quite young at the time. I think it would proabaly fare better on rewatch but I don't really have any urge to re-watch it.
