WB announced a Wonder Woman movie on October 14, 2014. MCU reacted by announcing a Captain Marvel movie 2 weeks later.
Woman Woman was released in 2017. MCU reacted by releasing Captain Marvel almost 2 years later.
Like I said, MCU made a Captain Marvel movie as a reaction to WB making a Wonder Woman movie.

The only reason MCU Dictator Kevin Feige made a Captain Marvel movie and made Captain Marvel the future face of MCU was to try to capitalize on the female audience that went to see Wonder Woman in large numbers.
That didn't happen until its release date June 2nd, 2017.
