Received an uninformative e-mail from the GKC Society people: I can’t agree with Miss Korman, as it wouldn’t make much sense for GKC to have half of the entires on a list be specific stories and half be generalizations.
Thank you for your email. Your question about that passage in Orthodoxy is a great one. We believe that in the cases of the forgotten word and the plucked flower, Chesterton may have not been making reference to specific fairy tales, but generalizations of rules that apply in a variety of fairy tales - Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin, Beauty and the Beast.
If I think of or encounter any stories that Chesterton might more specifically be referencing, I will let you know.
