Physical discipline would work just fine and I think it's far more effective than taking stuff away at certain times in a kids life.
At the end of the day, a negative experience helps you remember the wrong that was bad enough to get you punished.
It just shouldn't be used for all the bad, stupid things kids do...Only the dangerous ones or perhaps some type of severe disrespect.
By the time they are teens, a kids personality is almost etched. A spanking is just going to cause more rebellion
However, all that is separate from societal expectation which quite bluntly forbids any notion of spanking regardless of age. It's for the worst, but it's not worth going to jail over and especially if it's your kid calling the cops.
