Who would have made the update? I don't recall any of the Avengers maintaining contact with Fury. And did you expect one of them to excuse themselves from the battle so they can make a phone call?

Having said that, common sense would also dictate that Dr. Strange would have found some way to let Fury know that Thanos had the full house and was on his way to cash in.

Would it? Bruce Banner falls through his roof, tells him to get Stark, gets background on Thanos, get's into a battle in New York (which Fury is aware of, it's mentioned in the post credits), is captured, immobilised, taken to another planet....and common sense says he will stop to contact someone he has never met, let alone knows exists?
