I finally saw this last night in IMAX. Many here know that I am a huge fan of the MCU. However, this movie was not very good. Heck, it was downright boring in parts. Some of the movie was funny and the action was decent in the last act, but the action for the rest of the movie was bland and the jump cuts during every fight were so distracting. Also, even though there was some great humor in this, it was few and far between and surrounded by very cheesy jokes. I do not want it to seem like I hated it. I didn't. It was not terrible in the same way Thor 2 was not terrible. It is just not very good either.
I am starting to get a little worried about the MCU. Sure, Infinity War was excellent, but it had to be. It was a culmination of 10 years and 20 movies. However, Antman and the Wasp was forgettable and average. I might never watch it again unless it is on TV for free. I feel the same about Captain Marvel. There was a time that I owned every MCU movie on Blu-Ray. I loved the collection. The MCU seriously came out with ten solid movies in a row at one point and that is unheard of in any franchise, but I feel the magic may be ending. I have no doubt that Endgame will be excellent, but where do they go from there? I am now very anxious to see the new Spiderman. If that is forgettable and boring like Antman 2 and Captain Marvel, then it may mark the beginning of the end of the MCU. It has been an amazing run.
I will add that my two daughters loved the movie. I guess that made it worth it. I was worried they were bored. They were kind of moving around and getting restless during the film. However, when it was over, they were talking about it and loved it. They really liked Goose the cat. He was the best character honestly and I loved seeing young Fury and Coulson. It was not all bad. The end credit scene was the best part.
