I think there is definitely a mainstream audience for movies like ‘Spawn’ and you only need to take a look at how popular the Horror genre is now and if you can bring that together with a superhero film it could be one of the biggest comic book movies of the decade being a Horror Superhero movie that unites fans of both superheroes and Horror movies. I am hoping the new movie turns out to be good ‘cause Spawn is one of the Top 10 biggest selling superheroes of all time and the character and most of all fans deserve a movie that does Spawn justice which the last movie didn’t do. There are a lot of things riding on the success of this movie and they have already said if it makes over 100 million they plan to bring more Image Comics series to the big screen but if Spawn is successful it will be the very first time the creator of a comic book series their series into their own hands and made it succeed on the screen.
The Horror Superhero movie I am most looking forward to is ‘Razor’ though and Emma Dumont gave another update about the movie a few days ago and Emma said she is doing all her own stunts and is learning Krav Maga and is in the gym three to four hours a day ‘cause the Director, Rob Cohen wants her to be able to fight for her life for real and it is great to see them taking this seriously ‘cause Razor is a bad ass fighter and needs to be played by a person who can fight. I will post the interview about it below so you can read more of it but I recall when I first read a ‘Razor’ comic in the early 90s it was nothing like anything I had read before with a female superhero and was very unique and with some exceptions many female superheroes in the 80s were written to be bland and 2Dish and didn’t have personality and the 90s saw that change with ‘Razor’ spinning off many other female lead series.
Razor was dark, edgy and aggressive, she swore, she had sex with men and women, she not only kills her villains she slices their heads off, their penises off and cuts their insides out with blood and guts going everywhere and she takes pleasure in killing them covering herself in their blood. While Razor has Horror villains like vampires and werewolves and become a vampire herself for a while she does not have larger than life villains and most of her villains are rapists, pedophiles, domestic abusers, serial killers and psychopaths and this is going to be like nothing we have seen in comic book movies to date and be very, very violent and brutal and some heads are gonna roll.

With Razor as you described it I assume their expectations are going to be considerably lower than Spawns, such as $100m isn't going to be the benchmark they want to hit, $100m-150m should be considered an outrageous success for the film, and they may need to tune a lot of the elements down, as again I don't know how well cutting off dicks, bathing in blood or pedo and rapists is really going to sell to a paying audience.
As for Todd I think the thing is you just don't know, the guys been flapping his lips and clearly been lying through his teeth for decades now, I hope the film is great but lets not kid ourselves, just because Blumhouse is involved wont make it good, they produce bad films as well, they just happen to make a lot of successful films due to the low budget.
But if Spawn is a success I hope that opens up the industries eyes so they actually include the creator or atleast the creatives behind the current or most popular modern runs of those characters in the story making process.
With 'Razor' it was already announced last year Rob Cohen had a sequel and a spinoff locked in and the spinoff is most likely going to be of her sister, Strike or their descendant, Poizon who both had their own spinoff series (as seen below) or possibly 'Shi' who was the most successful spinoff character to come from 'Razor' and it was actually through 'Shi' 'Witchblade' was born with Sara making her very first appearance in a 'Shi/Cyblade' team up comic book but I don't think they have the rights to 'Shi' 'cause the last I heard was the creator was looking to make a 'Shi' movie that had no ties to any of the other characters. I don't think they will have majorly high expectations for 'Razor's' Box Office numbers especially since the company that it is being made under have released sequels to movies that made under $1 million and one of the best things about the Horror genre is the movies don't need to get ridiculously high Box Office figures from a mainstream audience to get sequels 'cause many of them are made for genre fans and I see a lot of Horror fans loving this type of movie who have been wanting more heroes in Horror movies like we have in Horror comics.
One interesting thing I read recently is they could be getting a big name to play Roman Van Drake who is the man that killed Nicole's Father and Sister (as it was first believed) and in the comic books Razor finds out her sister is still alive and Roman brainwashed her and made her into a deadly assassin known as Strike. He sends Strike out to kill Razor and the two fight and in the comic books Strike actually kills Razor and she realises Razor is her Sister and she was brainwashed and Razor is brought back from the dead by Poizon and has blades surgically inserted her arms which she uses as her main weapons thus the name 'Razor.' I think there won't be much of a problem with the cutting heads off since they do it in a lot of Horror movies and the rapists, pedophiles and domestic abusers are the perfect villain in Hollywood movies for the 'MeToo' era 'cause they are the real villains in real life a lot of us have had to face and Rob Cohen said last year that was one of the things that made this movie so important and was a truly feminist movie.
