It wasn't a very strong year, but most years don't have 2 pop culture phenomenons like The Dark Knight and Iron Man.
The Dark Knight changed the course of Christopher Nolan's career and turned him into one of the most adored mainstream directors of all time and Iron Man started the most ambitious movie franchise in history.
This is a completely objective observation from me. I am not even a big fan of Iron Man and regardless of how you feel about The Dark Knight it has certainly been ingrained into most people's minds.
