It actually sounds like he was being diplomatic. Praising her strength? Seriously if he liked the film he would have conveyed it in much more specific, stronger terms.

A fan of the Marvel comics as well, Martin, however, is slightly disappointed that the movie's Mar-Vell isn't the same as Mar-Vell from the comics. He shared his two cents on the twist as writing, "As an old (very very old) Marvel fanboy, I am a little saddened that they dropped the original Captain Marvel (not counting Fawcett's Big Red Cheese), the Kree warrior Mar-Vell, from the continuity.
