I actually saw the film first, then a friend gave me the soundtrack, then I came across the novel.

Cool. The IMDB mini plot has made me inquisitive about it. Have added it to my watch-list.

I originally had the film on video cassette and the soundtrack on audio cassette as a teenager, but they were both long ago upgraded to DVD and CD. I'm now 51.

I've read the book twice, watched the film over 50 times easily, probably more and I listen to sections of the soundtrack daily.

My favourite musician won an Oscar for the soundtrack and my favourite piece of music comes from the film.

So, I might be just a tad biased in its favour.
