... and, honestly, I've come to expect more from the MCU and far less from DC. So there's that expectation thing also helping Aquaman.

but Aquaman is just a godawful movie. The writing is lazy and contrived. The first half of the movie keeps jumping from 1 place to another place without any transition at all and is just a disjointed and convoluted mess. Karl Drogo's performance is wooden and robotic. And there's no character development or personality to the Arthur Curry / Aquaman character.
