Is it just me or does baseball change their opening day frequently? Since when does it start on a Thursday? I grew up a Dodgers fan and I guess I'm still nominally a fan of them, although they historically have been frustrating to root for. I have a soft spot for the Pirates. But I live in San Diego and really want to be a fan of theirs. Too often they've given me the likes of Daniel Bard and Mark Bellhorn as their clean-up hitters (no, really), so it has been very hard to watch them. But with Machado, the farm system and the return of mustard and brown uniforms next year??? Put the Padres on the board too. The main Opening Day like today when everyone plays is typically on a weekday to maximize gate revenue for what would otherwise be a lower take. When they don't have an international game, they've sometimes opened with one game on Sunday Night and then everyone else plays on Monday.
