I go to see pretty much all the big movies on the first day or first few days of release and I've never had to preorder any ticket, I show up and just pick a seat and that's it. Never had any problems.
It ain't remote either, it's in the middle of West Midlands, a big Showcase Cinema.
The only exception I ever had was recently with Dragon Ball Super Broly where every seat was sold out so I had to book one but that was a special case.
