I'll read the 1755 version they give a link to. It might still be interesting, even if it's not accurate or all true.
I've seen older french than that. Once you're used to the old calligraphy (S looking like a capital F without the lower line) and some letters that have now disappeared from the orthography, you should be fine.
I had practice by reading 1500's books of french genealogy! 
BTW, yes french is my native and everyday life language, that's why it helps!
