This happens more than you'd think. There's been a few movies that have got close to a milestone but they wouldn't naturally reach it on their own so they'll have an odd unexplained bump just to push it over.
It's usually referred to as "fudging".
Like if you look at this

Look how many movies have made $98 million or $99 million. Now look how many have made $100 million.
It's because they fudge it over. Same with how there's no movies that have made $199 million but there are 5 that have made $200 million.
