wait a sec. Wasn't there something with Black Panther where Disney counted combined viewing of Black Panther and Infinity War towards Black Panther's Gross so it could go over 700m domestic? There isn't a milestone that they'll get close too. (I think it has 400m in the bag) It would be kind of funny if they did the same thing with Captain Marvel to get it's domestic over Wonder Woman. It would be petty and trivial, but kind of funny. This happens more than you'd think. There's been a few movies that have got close to a milestone but they wouldn't naturally reach it on their own so they'll have an odd unexplained bump just to push it over. It's usually referred to as "fudging". Like if you look at this www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/domestic.htm?page=8&p=.htmLook how many movies have made $98 million or $99 million. Now look how many have made $100 million. It's because they fudge it over. Same with how there's no movies that have made $199 million but there are 5 that have made $200 million. The whole perception is reality thing. It looks so much better to be at a large round number than not. Human nature I guess we are so goal/milestone oriented. In the case of Captain Marvel, I don't foresee it not reaching 400m domestically. I think naturally it's going to be close to beating WW but fall short. I'd say around 408 to 410. The only reason the would fudge it to 413 would be to just beat Wonder Woman. While I can kind of see execs doing that it would come off as pretty fucking petty. If the holds stay up it might get it on it's own without fudging. Currently it's at 389.6m as of Wed. It should get around 391 Thursday. The weekend it has been projected at 6-7m so that gets it to 397. If you assume just 50% drops from there on out you are looking at 6m, 3m, 1.5m, .75 or 11.25+ 397 = 408.25. That's assuming 50% drops. Which they have been edging from 40% to 25% drops in last 2 weeks. We'll know if they fudge them though we'll see a major spike. Thanks for the term fudging. I use it when I DM. When I don't want something to die or don't want a character killed you fudge the dice roll. Like one of the characters has 3 hp left and as the dm you roll to hit and damage the character. You don't want him to die there because you have some plans. When you roll for damage you roll a 6 but say it was a 2.
