@nedkelly I have no intention to debate this with far leftist idiots like Faustus so I am writing here. Jesus hasn't said anything about not spending money on infrastructure that helps the economy in the long run. About 10 years back India was spending money on its space organization. The far leftist idiots were crying why the poor country India doesn't feed poor with the money instead of spending on the useless space program. Turns out space program of India helped develop warning signs against cyclones which saved the lives of 1000s of people over the last 5 years. You have no idea just how big is the architecture industry and how it is a permanent source of generating revenue and moving the economy forward. Notre Dam was the no.1 tourist destination of France (bigger than their Effiel tower). Please do not use religions in making emotionally charged arguments. Spending money in sources that happen to create revenue every year in the future is not a bad use of money. I'm a leftist, Catholics generally are, does that make me an idiot too? It's a building... People will still visit it as a shell... People will still visit Paris if the ruins of Notre Dame are bulldozed. It is a waste of money and resources to rebuild it... It will never be the same, it's gone. It's sad, but there you go, it's gone. I said far leftist are idiots. Not leftists.
It's not just any building. It is something that creates permanent revenue. An investment that will attract money and help move the economy. Increase tax collection that will help the government put money in welfare. It's not "watse" of money. I am from finance industry and do know how money works. Spending moeny in infrasture is better than in one time spending. And yes we do also care about human progress. Art is not waste of money.
