Rewatched it Saturday night. Just a spectacular film from top to bottom. So many character moments, and the film is so creative in the action scenes regarding everyone's capabilities. Doctor Strange and Iron Man in particular are off the charts. They both hold their own alone for a brief time against Thanos wielding 4 Infinity Stones. War Machine really cuts loose against the outriders.
The dialog is incredibly well written. The personality these characters are given is what makes you root for them; why you care what happens to them amongst all that CGI. Without the superb writing, acting and directing you just have white noise on a green screen. Rocket in particular caught my attention this time, his facial expressions and snarky commentary were hilarious-- yet he still added heart to the scenes with Thor. That scene in particular with Thor talking about how much he's lost, Hemsworth really shows his range. (As an aside, I was surprised at how much swearing occurred in the film. Not so much as to be distracting but for a PG-13 flick I felt it really pushed the limits.)
It's truly amazing how well this film balances action, humor and drama. It's fun but still carries that sense of impending doom the whole time. I'm that much more hyped for Endgame now.
