Then when he tries to do something truly selfless and heroic, he's stopped by a janitor. Y'know, the issue of Rose stopping him from killing himself keeps coming up and I kinda don't get the gripe. Should they have written it differently? Probably. But there it is. I don't see why she gets SO MUCH hate. I gripe about it for the following reasons: - Rose saving Finn is a deus ex machina
- Rose's love of Finn seemed forced and unrequited to me
- It was just another example in TLJ where every male character is portrayed as evil, incompetent, or both
