Y'know, the issue of Rose stopping him from killing himself keeps coming up and I kinda don't get the gripe. Should they have written it differently? Probably. But there it is. I don't see why she gets SO MUCH hate. I gripe about it for the following reasons: - Rose saving Finn is a deus ex machina
- Rose's love of Finn seemed forced and unrequited to me
- It was just another example in TLJ where every male character is portrayed as evil, incompetent, or both
Fair enough. You have your reasons.
1) I don't know if the term Deus Ex Machina applies, but I get what you're saying. 2) Agreed, but its a Star Wars movie. If you really think about it what love story has been REALLY developed? Even Han and Leia were on the Millennium Falcon for what seemed like only a few days... 3) Disagree. But that's another story.
