I mentioned somewhere on the board that this gives them opportunities to tell other Cap stories, and maybe that's what they were thinking all along. It's closure for the character in terms of the narrative of the MCU, but in reality it opens up all kinds of possibilities to use Evans going forward.

Ok fair enough. Still doesn't explain why Cap chose to hand off his shield to Falcon though, not when Bucky was a way better candidate.
