These movies are antithetical to Christian values. Please don't watch them. I'm trying to save your souls. "Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." James 1:21 'Horror movie' can a subjective label. I personally found Gibson's Passion of the Christ pretty horrific, for instance. Also it is not clear whether your proscription also applies to films of terror as well as horror - or those films (like those of Val Lewton, say) which eschew explicit horror for dread and suspense. Or what about those horror films which are not at all horrifying, the teen-friendly pap which continually clogs the straight-to-DVD shelves? Or, come to that, films in which the horror is there as part of a strong moral message, a necessary representation of evil, shown as a warning from history or to deliberately repulse us - Son of Saul for instance?
