You might have heard those claims of that prayer releasing 1,000 souls from Purgatory each time it's said, but is likely not true.
because if it was THAT easy, who would bother doing other stuff that's more difficult?
with that said... I am not speaking out against that prayer, as it's still a prayer and it's good and all, but just don't take the releasing a bunch of souls from Purgatory each time it's said too seriously as here is a good article on this stuff that I read a while ago... www.romancatholicman.com/st-gertrude-prayer-releases-1000-souls-purgatory/ ; seems to condemn such promises.
p.s. in fact, I pray that prayer six times after my daily Rosary and have for a while now.
