Ahhh..Iris got a lot of hate from racists 'cause of the colour of the actresses' skin when she was first cast in the role and I remember seeing some really vile comments about her and how DC was forcing an ugly black woman in the show and when 'The Flash' movie was first announced they were saying how the version in the movie was going to be so much better than the one in the TV Show until it was announced she was being played by a woman of colour too and the racists jumped on her too. That is not to say all the hate has been by racists and I have never been a huge fan of Iris myself but the racist hate I saw for her was pathetic.
I don't hate Iris but I find her to be kinda boring sometimes and I don't feel like the writers have really good a good job of making her stand out as a character on her own and since they put her with Barry it is like they took all her storylines away and just made her another member of the team who doesn't have much of a life outside of Star Labs. I liked the Earth 2 version of Iris a lot more and felt she had more get up and go in her and spunk. I think the character would have been better if they made her more like that and she was a cop like her Father is but that is my opinion and people are free to disagree.
