But seriously, I'd just as soon ignore certain users who don't want to engage in constructive discussion. That's why they are ostensibly on my ignore list - I just find it very disappointing that blocking someone on this site doesn't preclude them them from being able to post on your thread. It seems like that should be the main purpose of the function...
