Makes sense. An alcoholic is super prone to drinking and staying up late and getting up late, and being late for work and the next party. The late arrival. Makes perfect sense that he would be the patron saint. I always think of St Matthias as just an ordinary follower of Jesus who liked a drink himself. After Judas went bad on them, they drew lots...
