Thanos will be in Avengers 4 for sure. They won't confirm any characters because they don't want you to know what happens in the first film, IE if they don't want you to know who survives.

I see it as being the aftermath of him getting the Gauntlet, and the attempt to get it off of him.

The first film will be him acquiring it, and a massive attempt to prevent him from doing so.
