The Academy was intimidated into nominating more minorities as of late. This isn't speculation, this is an absolute fact. #Oscarssowhite ring a bell?
You just said that you don't take that claim seriously.
There are other reasons in the past - Crash winning over Brokeback because it was too gay, actors winning because they are old and haven't won yet over much more deserving performances, nominations by association etc.
