Will he be a Cooperstown 1st ballot guy? How do the Dodgers find these dipshit castoffs like Muncy and Justin Turner, basically the 25th guy on someone else's roster, and turn them into all-stars? One of the things I always say, possibly to the annoyance of others, is how I always say that every time I look up, there's Justin Turner standing on second base. Every. Single. Time. On the Mets, yeah he hustled, but he was nothing more than cannon fodder for another team's closer. Some teams suck at developing talent. Turner and Daniel Murphy were both ok players on the Mets, nothing really special, and they both became All Stars after leaving. It could be as simple as a good hitting coach seeing something that the previous team’s hitting coach did not, and making small adjustments that yield big returns. If any team is consistently offensively deficient, it’s the damn Mets. Also don’t forget every team has its own analytics department with its own proprietary formulas for finding undervalued talent. Look at what the Yankees did with Luke Voit — traded for him when he was considered a quintessential “AAAA” guy, too good for the minors but not good enough to be an everyday MLB player. But they saw some untapped potential there and turned nothing into gold.
