Iron Man had plenty of CGI, mostly during it's final battle with Iron Monger. The CGI involved there was much worse than it is now which is why they set the scene at night to cover it up. Something that isn't necessary anymore. not sure about that. But some of that was late getting added, Favreau got more budget from Paramount after Transformers was smash hit.
